As the year comes to a close to become a mere page in a calender, here are some of the controversies that sent tremors in Tollywood.
Radhika Apte: This beautiful heroine stirred up the Hornet's Nest when she said the Telugu film industry was patriarchial and the heroes were male chauvinists. She said the Telugu film industry does not treat heroines with respect.
Radhika's only exposure to Telugu films was through Legend and Lion, both Nandamuri Balakrishna films. Naturally, this comment, given to a TV Channel, became a controversy and people slammed her right left and centre.
Bahubali-Avantika Romance: Believe it or not, the sensitive portrayal of Prabhas courting Avanthika (Tamannah) in Bahubali was not to the liking of feminists. They saw mysogyny and termed the romance a rape. A small-time Telugu anchor's video became a hot topic of discussion. No wonder, the film's hugeness dominated all this criticism.
Anushka's Thighs, Ali's blubber: That Ali loses control while commenting on woman is well-known. He crossed all limits at the audio launch of Size Zero.
He made nasty comments on Anushka's thighs and this became controversial as the actress was upset and Ali was severely reprimanded by Daggubati Rana. Ali, who realised that he was neck-deep in trouble, promptly apologised for his remarks.
Chiru's 150th: Chiru has always been in the news this year for his 150th film. Finally, when Bruce Lee came, the people did not know whether to call this his 150th. Replacing Puri Jagan with VV Vinayak again made news. Finally, the film did not come and we may have to wait for it in 2016.
Brahmanandam: That man with a comic touch had a particularly bad year. He was not part of any of the major hits this year. Block busters like Bahubali and Sreemanthudu did not have him. Suddenly, roles stopped coming by and Brahmanandam was no longer the most in-demand comedian of the Telugu film industry.
