In a surprising development, senior YSR Congress Party leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Tuesday levelled serious allegations against a senior woman IAS officer who held a key role during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
Though Bhumana did not name her directly, he said the officer had been overseeing the Municipal Administration Department under the YSRCP regime — an apparent reference to senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, considered a close confidante of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In his statement, Bhumana alleged that the officer had played a central role in the issuance of TDR bonds, which he described as a major scam.
“This officer, who is like an anaconda of corruption, is the primary reason behind this scam,” he charged.
He further accused the officer of treating state ministers with disdain, claiming she “never respected even the ministers of her own department” and that her only objective was “to make money, with absolutely no moral values.”
According to him, “She behaved like a tyrant towards her subordinates.”
Bhumana also alleged that while roads were being laid in Tirupati, she plotted to siphon off hundreds of crores of rupees.
“When we refused to comply, she orchestrated false allegations against us,” he said.
It now remains to be seen how Jagan Mohan Reddy will respond to these allegations against Srilakshmi, whom he had elevated to the rank of special chief secretary.
