Stating that it was the Congress government that had promised Andhra Pradesh many things including 'special status', Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that the present government cannot be blamed for the financial mess of Andhra Pradesh.
He also said that there was vehement opposition from other States, especially Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand to giving a special status to Andhra Pradesh as they feel that it would result in migration of industries from their States to AP. This is strange logic.
None of those states has had to go through the trauma of bifurcation. None of those States have been burdened overnight with a revenue deficit of Rs 17000 crore.
Above all, Ashok Gajapathi Raju should remember that he belongs to the TDP and not the BJP. Has not the TDP told the people that it would get special status for Andhra Pradesh which was promised to the people in the august hall of Parliament?
