Kalavakuntla Kavitha is desperately trying to become a Union Minister and her Dad KCR is having a tough time because of this.
Although KCR himself is reportedly not too keen on a truck with the BJP as he is quite firmly ensconced in Telangana, Kavitha’s desire for recognition is making him have to adopt BJP policies in a huge manner.
The ‘Swacch Bharat’ campaign undertaken in Hyderabad was given unprecedented hype and coverage with participation from celebrities from all walks of life. This should surely please the BJP. There are also rumors that the RSS top brass is highly displeased with an interview given by Kavitha to an English daily.
Kavitha had said in that interview that Telangana and Kashmir were separate nations that had been forcibly inducted into the Indian Union. The problems of the peoples of both States started since then, she said.
She also questioned India’s defence spending on Kashmir and asked for a compromise over Kashmir, questioning the fanaticism over holding on to Kashmir.she also raised the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, in Parliament, holding the government responsible for their plight.
In making these remarks, as a first time MP, she displayed her lack of tact as a politician. Needless to say, the RSS was not amused. Hence, when KCR offered an alliance with the BJP, with the condition that Kavitha be made a Union Minister, they turned him down flatly.
But Kavitha is adamant and so KCR is still trying to woo the BJP to realize his daughter’s dream of becoming a Union Minister.
