Chennai: Political circles in Tamil Nadu are rife with gossip that the MLAs in Sasikala camp have been offered Rs 5 crore each to vote for Palinaswamy in the ensuing trust vote in the Assembly.
Immediately after the swearing-in ceremony, the MLAs were herded back to the resort and although the Sasikala camp was given time to prove their strength on the Assembly floor, they opted for it in just a couple of days.
The MLAs have received Rs 3 crore each and the rest of the payment would be made after the vote in the Assembly.
In the meantime, they would be closely guarded by Sasikala's men. Rs 5 crore per MLA to each of the 120 MLAs works out to around Rs 600 crore. Hail democracy!
