Compared to the ruffian like language which KCR frequently used against the Seemandhra people during the course of the T-agitation, the programme aired by TV9 would appear to be highly civil.
And then taking his anger out on ABN Andhra Jyothi for portraying him in a negative light reflects poorly on the opportunist called KCR.
YS Jagan’s Sakshi and Eenadu frequently trade charges against each other. But never did Jagan or Chandrababu give a call for banning these newspapers or channels altogether.
They did express their anger publicly at the articles published but chose to file their protests with the ombudsman, in a democratic fashion. And that is how it should be! KCR has simply indicated that he cannot put up with any kind of criticism.
And in the guise of blacking out TV9 and ABN, he is simply seeing to it that there is no opposition to him on the contentious ‘loan waiver issue’ which has become a ‘cross’ for him.
If this is the way that KCR intends to operate, then Seemandhra people need no further signals from him. They might as well go back from Hyderabad to their respective places.
The Press is the custodian of free speech and positive or negative, they should be allowed to give their opinions. TV9 and ABN should be immediately restored. TV9 has already issued an apology for its programme, which of course was only a reflection of the obvious albeit in a humorous way.
If the Courts were to now interfere and restore the Channel, it would be anther slap on the face of KCR. Nobody in their right mind can take on the media and get away with it! KCR is making a very costly mistake.
