Andhra-Telangana Row Heats Up RTA!

Andhra-Telangana Row Heats Up RTA!

After more than two and a half years, the Andhra-Telangana row raised its ugly head in Hyderabad on Tuesday with the arrest of Tadipatri MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy, brother of Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy, over running of private buses allegedly without permit.

As Prabhakar was coming to the Road Transport Authority office at Secunderabad to counter the allegations levelled by Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA T Srinivas Goud on the illegal transport business, the Kharkhana police arrested the Rayalaseema MLA on the pretext of breaking down of law and order. He was later released.

Speaking to media later, Prabhakar said the Telangana police had arrested him only because he was from the Andhra Pradesh state.

“If law and order is an issue, why didn’t the police arrest Srinivasa Goud? I am also an MLA like him. It clearly shows that the police had shown partiality towards the Telangana MLA and targeted me because I from AP,” he said.

The TRS MLA alleged that Prabhakar had violated RTA norms running his private buses without maintaining proper RTA rules and regulations. He said Prabhakar was producing false documents.

“His travels – Diwakar Travels, has been operating private buses illegally, causing huge loss to Telangana RTC buses,” he said.
