Telangana government is contemplating demolition of statues belonging to Seemandhra stalwarts on the Tank Bund in Hyderabad.
Telangana Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy is learnt to have proposed that the statues of Andhras on the Tank Bund in the city would be demolished and in their place, statues of Telangana personalities would be installed.
Strongly condemning the move, former minister Dr Shankar Rao said that the statues belonged to Telugu stalwarts and not of Andhras, as said by the Minister.
It was not proper to say that the statues of Andhras would be demolished. He regretted that some of the leaders in power were making statements which create enmity between the people.
He said that the great person NTR had got the statues erected to honour the legendary Telugu personalities, who excelled in different fields.
