Allagadda MLA Bhuma Akhila Priya, daughter of Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy who died of heart attack on Sunday, vowed that she would not cry again over her father’s death, till she fulfilled his ideals.
Forgetting the mandatory mourning days, Akhila Priya came to the assembly at Velagapudi in Amaravati and participated in the condolence meeting.
As she was speaking, several women members were found crying, but Akhila did not shed a tear. She declared that she would strive to fulfill the commitment Bhuma Nagi Reddy had given to the people of Nandyal constituency.
She said her father was so sensitive that he did not feel like living after her mother Shobha’s death in a road accident before 2014 elections.
"He would have died immediately after my mother's death. Their love for each other was so intense. But he must have survived the grief for this brief period only to prepare me mentally to withstand a bigger tragedy," she said.
Fighting her tears, Akhila said she felt sad that the first speech she was making in the assembly was to condole her father’s death.
The House adopted a resolution moved by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu condoling the death of the sitting legislator.
