After Transstroy, Naidu upset with L&T

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who indulged in a lot of favouritism and nepotism in promoting companies like Transstroy (owned by TDP MP from Narsaraopet Rayapati Sambasiva Rao) and Larsen and Toubro till recently, is now trying to disown them following criticism from various sections of people for their poor quality of work.

While Rayapati’s company could not live up to the expectations in executing the prestigious Polavaram project despite swindling lot of government funds, L&T which was the most favoured company of Naidu has faced flak for the poor quality for in the construction of Secretariat blocks at Velagapudi in Amaravati.

Very recently, Naidu has taken a decision to strip Transstroy of the Polavaram contract for failing to meet the deadline. And on Monday, Naidu asked the officials to scrap the contract given to L&T for the construction of visitors’ block and conference hall in the secretariat. Naidu expressed strong dissatisfaction over the leakage of water in Secretariat blocks.

“Take strong action against the company and if necessary, strip it of the Secretariat work,” Naidu ordered.

Apparently, Naidu is worried over the criticism in the poor quality of works in projects like Polavaram and Amaravati, which might cost him heavily in the next elections.
