The Congress party, which was hopeful that the BJP would extend support for Telangana bill, might face trouble, as the BJP veteran L K Advani is reported to have said that the party would not support the Telangana bill in its present form.
He was very angry over the Congress party’s attitude towards Telanana State issue.
Seeking support of the BJP for the bill, Telangana TDP leaders called on Advani and Arun Jaitley and sought their support for the passage of the Bill in parliament.
After the meeting with Advani, TDP leaders informed the media that Advani had told them that the party would not support the bill in its present form, and the Congress is enacting dramas on the issue.
They also quoted Advani as saying that the BJP would not support the bill as it was a defective one and full of flaws.
Advani reported to have told TDP leaders that there was possibility of judicial problems cropping up, and that he had never seen this kind of Bill in his long parliamentary career, starting with 1970.
Telangana TDP leader Dayakar Rao said that Advani had told them that while the BJP was committed to Telangana state formation and keeping up its word, they were finding it difficult to support the Bill in the present form. They were thinking of ways to keep up their word on Telangana, he added.
