If someone criticizes a government for its inefficiency, is it an attack against the people of that State? If someone criticizes Chandrababu Naidu or the TDP government, is it an attack on the Andhras?
If someone criticizes Narendra Modi or the NDA, is it an attack against the people of India? Definitely not!
But unfortunately, yes if the criticism is directed against KCR! Criticising KCR or his government is tantamount to insulting the people of Telangana according to KCR!
When Amit Shah visited Telangana recently, he claimed that Telangana was not implementing any of the central schemes despite being provided funds for the same.
Stung by this criticism, KCR responded saying: “How dare he (Amit Shah) belittle Telangana and talk against it by standing on this land. He has to tender an apology to the people of Telangana before leaving the state. Otherwise, Telangana society will not forgive him. This is a matter of self-respect of all Telangana people.”
What nonsense is KCR talking? If accusations of corruption have been leveled against him he should come clean by producing proof to the contrary.
Instead of coming out with facts and figures to prove that the government is putting the funds provided by the Centre to good use, why is he diverting the issue by making it an emotive one?
In what way has Amit Shah belittled the people of Telangana? Did he utter one word against them? But this is precisely the kind of poisonous politics that KCR has become a master of and thrives on.
How can criticising him on issues of governance be an insult to the people of Telangana? As Samuel Jackson remarked: “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.” This is being put to good use in India.
