A Part Of Daily Life In India

“Who is not corrupt? All politicians are corrupt. But it is unfair on the part of Stephenson to promise Revanth Reddy that he will accept the money and then trap him. When Revanth Reddy offered him a bribe, he could have simply warned him and refused,” says one pan-shop vendor in Hyderabad.

Interestingly, this is a view shared by quite a lot of people on the street and is symptomatic of how Indians accept corruption as an ingrained part of the system. That such huge amounts are being offered for an MLC seat shows how much they will get back from the tax payer’s money. But the common man is resigned to corruption as an inevitable part of his life.

A tea stall vendor says, “He did not kill anyone. All he did was to offer money. Take it or refuse it. Revanth Reddy is being targeted for speaking out against KCR.”

The whole episode is being seen as another entertainment story being dished out by the media and corruption is the last thing on people’s mind.

For the moment, the focus is on who gets the upper hand in the political game?
