It has been nearly three years since veteran leader M Venkaiah Naidu stepped down as the Vice-President of India. After that he has not been actively involved in any activity related to politics; occasionally, he appears on non-political platforms to give lectures.
Now, after a long time, Venkaiah Naidu is seen actively involved in hectic political activity in Delhi after his successor Jagdeep Dhankar resigned from the post and process for the election of new Vice President has begun.
According to reports from New Delhi, Venkaiah Naidu has emerged as a key figure in Delhi, holding a one-on-one meeting with PM Modi and engaging in discussions with senior RSS and BJP leaders. These meetings are fuelling speculation over possible political moves.
Venkaiah Naidu’s back-to-back meetings have drawn attention, particularly as they coincide with the selection process for the Vice President and BJP chief.
Sources say Naidu discussed recent developments between the BJP and RSS, national political issues, the Vice President’s appointment, and other organisational matters.
He reportedly advised that India should take independent decisions on trade tariffs with the United States, maintaining friendly ties but ensuring economic and foreign policy autonomy.
PM Modi is understood to have told Naidu that the BJP president’s appointment will also be made soon.
Naidu visited the newly built RSS office on Desh Bandhu Gupta Road and held over an hour of closed-door discussions with Sangh leaders and other prominent figures.
On Sunday evening, BJP joint general secretary (organisation) Shiv Prakash called on Venkaiah Naidu for lengthy talks, reportedly on organisational matters.
Venkaiah Naidu’s Delhi visit and series of meetings with top leaders are seen as significant moves ahead of these key appointments.
Clarity on both the Vice President and the new BJP chief is expected after August 15.
