YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday announced that the party's next plenary will be held in April, setting the stage for what he described as the beginning of the end for the Chandrababu Naidu-led government.
Accusing Naidu of dragging politics to a new low through corruption and unfulfilled promises, Jagan said the public is no longer willing to support him.
He alleged that nepotism, the sand and liquor mafia, and the gifting of prime land to close associates will ultimately lead to Naidu’s downfall. He made these remarks while addressing YSRCP Parliamentary observers.
“After witnessing the misdeeds of this coalition government, I’ve decided that our party cadre must be given priority and recognition. Unlike Chandrababu Naidu, I will honor my promises. The cadre has been re-energized, and we are seeing strong support wherever we go to expose the failures of this government. Public anger toward Chandrababu is palpable,” he said.
Jagan said the upcoming plenary will be a grand event. He urged leaders to intensify their efforts at the district level and maintain strong connections with grassroots workers.
“We will return to power without a doubt. The coalition has failed miserably across all sectors, and the people have stopped believing their lies. None of their promises have been kept, and they’ve scrapped all our welfare schemes. The public outrage is similar to what we saw after the TDP’s 2014–2019 term,” he said.
He further alleged that prime lands worth crores are being handed over for nominal prices.
“The Lulu Group received land worth ₹1,500 crore, and another company was given land valued at ₹3,000 crore for almost nothing,” he said.
“We had signed a deal with SECI to purchase power at ₹2.49 per unit to provide free electricity to farmers. But Chandrababu is now purchasing power at ₹4.60 per unit.”
“At the constituency level, no work gets done unless the MLA receives a commission. The so-called Red Book Constitution is being enforced in the state. We must not fear these cases—people are waiting for the right moment to teach the coalition a lesson,” he declared.
