YSR Congress Wrests Eluru Municipal Corporation Too

The ruling YSR Congress had won the Eluru Municipal Corporation too, as the votes were counted on Sunday.

The election to the Eluru Municipal Corporation became very controversial with court cases.

The court had initially deferred the election following a case filed for non-inclusion of new voters.

Later, the court directed the officials to conduct elections but stop the counting till further orders.

The elections were held in March and the ballot boxes were preserved in a strong room at the C R Reddy College.

As the court, after prolonged hearings, cleared decks for counting, the results started coming out from Sunday morning.

Out of the 50 divisions, the YSR Congress had won three divisions unanimously while elections were held for 47 divisions.

Out of these 47 divisions, where counting is in progress now, the ruling YSR Congress had won in 15 divisions and is said to be close to victory in another 17 divisions.

The ruling YSR Congress had won all the 16 municipal corporations in the State in March, where elections were held.
