Will quit politics, if I don't do justice: Pawan Kalyan

Will quit politics, if I don't do justice: Pawan Kalyan

Despite being in politics for over 10 years, Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan hasn’t so far spoken the typical rhetoric of politicians, like “I shall serve the people till the last drop of my blood,” or “I will quit politics, if necessary, to render justice,” etc.

But on Thursday, Pawan Kalyan sounded like a typical politician, while addressing the fishermen community at Kakinada collectorate.

He promised to protect the interests of fishermen who are suffering from frequent erosion of coast wiping out their villages.

Highlighting the livelihood concerns of local fishermen, the deputy CM noted that around 7,193 families in the region depend entirely on fishing.

“I will stand by the fishing community and ensure their welfare,” he said.

In an emotionally charged moment, Pawan Kalyan said, “If I fail to deliver justice to the fishermen, I will quit politics.”

Urging the community not to fall into the trap of politicians who make false promises, he declared, “If you scold me, I will bear it; if you strike me, I will still stand with you. I am here only for you.”

He assured the fishing community at Uppada that a sea protection wall will be constructed soon to safeguard the coastal area from erosion and damage.

He said that the Central Government had responded positively to the state’s proposal for building the Uppada Sea Protection Wall with an estimated cost of Rs 323 crore.

Pawan Kalyan took serious note of the pollution caused by industrial effluents, particularly from major pharmaceutical companies like Divi’s Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma.

He said that while industries are essential for economic development, addressing the environmental issues they create is equally mandatory.

“The failure to properly treat industrial waste before releasing it into the sea has become a grave problem,” he observed.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensure complete justice for the fishermen and vowed to make their issues a top priority in the government’s agenda.
