Who is this 'Elderly Vedhava,' Mr Nagababu?

A pungent comment made by Jana Sena Party leader and ‘mega’ actor Konidela Nagababu on social media on Thursday triggered a big debate in the political and media circles.

“You don’t have to respect every Vedhava (idiot) just because he is an elderly person and big man. Because even idiots grow up in age and become big people,” tweeted Nagababu on his social media platform X (formerly twitter).

As his tweet triggered an uproar on social media and a big debate in the political circles, Nagababu gave a clarification.

“Everybody is attributing my comment to him and reacting. But this is time for electoral battle. I am only expressing my views, but they are not aimed at targeting anybody. But what I said above is blatant truth of life,” he explained.

Whether it was the first post on X or his explanation later, Nagababu certainly created ripples in the political circles. The netizens are speculating who the Jana Sena Party leader was referring to, as he talked about “elderly, aged..”

In the given scenario, none of the Jana Sena Party’s rivals in the state politics – whether it YSR Congress party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy or the one among the BJP leaders, is older than Nagababu.

The only person that fits into the description is Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who is the senior most leader in the state politics in age and experience. But why should Nagababu target him, calling him “Elderly idiot?”

Maybe, Nagababu is of the view that it was Naidu was responsible for depriving him of the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat, which has now gone to the BJP as part of seat sharing.

He is also terribly upset for Naidu allotting only 21 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats to the Jana Sena Party.

“That might be the reason for Nagababu making such a nasty comment. But since he has not named anybody, he has left it to the netizens’ guess,” sources said.
