Who Is Raju To Ask For Cancellation Of Jagan Bail?

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday filed a counter-affidavit in the special court for CBI cases, requesting dismissal of the petition filed by rebel YSRC MP K Raghurama Krishnam Raju on cancellation of his (Jagan’s) bail in the quid pro quo case.

The petition came up for hearing in the CBI court on Tuesday, after getting adjourned twice in the past.

The CBI also filed its counter leaving it to the court to decide on whether Jagan’s bail should be continued or cancelled. The court adjourned the case to June 14.

In his 98-page counter affidavit, Jagan said the petition seeking his bail cancellation was purportedly filed in the capacity of a third party.

It was misconceived in law and not maintainable, as Raju was trying to bring in personal political issues and personal vendetta into criminal justice administration.

He also pointed out that Raju had filed a false affidavit before the court stating that he had no questionable antecedents of whatsoever in nature. But the fact was that Raju was an accused in two crimes registered by the CBI in relation to fraudulent dealings with the banks and siphoning of over Rs 900 crore.

The chief minister pointed out that the CBI was investigating into the case and Raju, being a third party, had no locus standi in seeking the cancellation of bail.

He did not show any overwhelming circumstances to review the procedure of granting bail, Jagan argued.

He claimed that he had never violated the conditions imposed by the court nor did he, in any manner, threatened or influence any witness directly or indirectly.

“All the allegations and claims made in the petitioner (Raju) are denied and his warrants no consideration and the same results in wastage of time of the court,” he said.
