Despite being caught red-handed for consuming drugs at a late-night party in Moinabad on the outskirts of Telangana on Saturday night, and later testing positive for the same, Telugu Desam Party MP from Eluru parliamentary constituency Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav is still claiming that he is innocent.
After completing police questioning and being let off on station bail on Sunday on the pretext of attending parliament sessions, the MP returned to home in the night and issued a video message, denying all allegations against him.
He asserted that he had no bad habits and had committed no wrongdoing.
“I do not have any such habits. I have not done anything wrong. I went to Moinabad only because a friend invited me to meet him,” he said.
Putta went on to claim that some incidents occurred while he was leaving after meeting his friend, and various stories were now being circulated in the media.
“I request people not to believe them,” Mahesh said in the video message.
He stated that he would fully cooperate with the police investigation and expressed confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail. Addressing his supporters, he urged them not to worry.
The MP claimed that the people of Eluru, along with TDP leaders and workers, were aware of his character. He also indicated that he would soon come before the public with complete details.
But he failed to answer several simple questions: Did Putta go the farmhouse to attend the party or just to meet the friend? If it was just to meet the friend, why didn’t he come out immediately after coming to know that liquor and drugs were being supplied there? Why did he take part in the party?
Did he mistake the drug powder as common salt or sugar powder? How could he claim innocent, when he was tested positive for drug consumption? Can he disclose the medical report that he did not test positive for drugs?”
Well, these are all million-dollar questions!
