We're winning Kuppam, Jagan tells party leaders!

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday exuded confidence that his party is going to wrest the Kuppam assembly seat in the next assembly elections.

Making an observation on the performance of the party all over the state, Jagan suddenly made an interesting comment on Kuppam assembly constituency, represented by opposition party leader and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

“We have won all the elections held in Kuppam so far – right from gram panchayat elections to mandal parishad, zilla parishad and municipal elections. We are going to win the assembly seat as well in Kuppam in the next elections,” Jagan announced at a meeting with district party presidents and regional coordinators of the party at his camp office.

“When we are doing good to the people, they will definitely bless us. We are going to prove it in Kuppam in the next assembly elections,” Jagan said, amidst loud cheers by the party functionaries.

Jagan has made K S J Bharat, son of former IAS officer and YSRC leader late K Chandramouli, as the in-charge of Kuppam. He also recently appointed Bharat as the party president of Chittoor district.

Field reports indicate that Bharat has been extensively touring Kuppam, winning the confidence of various sections of people.

He was able to attract several TDP leaders into the YSRC, besides undertaking extensive campaign in the social media to reach out to the young voters.

The chief minister decided the route map for the party for 2024 elections and directed that the YSRC should not get less than 151 assembly seats it had won in the last assembly elections.

He asked them to launch an extensive campaign to counter the anti-government propaganda by the pro-TDP media.

He also announced granting of cabinet rank to the district YSRC presidents by designating them as district development councils. Orders would be issued to this effect, he said.

Jagan also asked the party leaders to take up door-to-door campaign from May 10.

“With effect from May, we should shift to the top gear and take up the party programmes to every door step. The district-level party committees would be constituted before July 8, when the plenary is held, he said.
