Was Alipiri Attack On Naidu Stage-Managed?

Telugu Desam Party leaders’ criticism that the attack by a mason on the life of Andhra Pradesh information and transport minister Perni Venkatramaiah alias Nani at his residence on Sunday was stage-managed backfired on him.

Former TDP leader Kollu Ravindra Babu wondered why the YSRC leaders were being attacked with small instruments, instead of lethal weapons.

“First it was the attack on YSRC president Jagan Mohan Reddy by a man with Kodi Kathi. Now, the attack on Perni Nani with a trowel. Unless a person is sleeping, it is not possible to kill them with such instruments. There is definitely something fishy,” the TDP leader said, indicating that it could be stage-managed attack on Nani.

The comment evoked sharp reaction from a different Nani. State civil supplies minister Kodali Venkateshwara Rao alias Nani came down heavily on the TDP leaders for commenting that the attacks on Jagan and Perni Nani were stage-managed.

“It is a ridiculous comment. What should one call the attack on TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu by Maoists at Alipiri in Tirupati in October 2003? Was it also a stage-managed by Naidu to gain sympathy?” Kodali asked.

He said the YSRC leaders were more concerned about the people’s safety than their own safety.

“We are ready for any debate on it,” he said.

Reacting to the demand of the TDP leaders that the assembly session should be continued for a few more days, Kodali said if they wanted, they could attend the Zoom Sessions to be conducted by Naidu and Lokesh.
