Vundavalli predicts Jr NTR may help BJP

Former Congress MP from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar, who is known for making sensational comments and observations, on Tuesday predicted that popular Tollywood hero Jr N T Rama Rao might help the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next elections.

“There is definitely politics behind Union home minister Amit Shah meeting Junior NTR. It is not just a courtesy call. The meeting assumes significance in the wake of reports that there are differences between NTR and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu,” Vundavalli told reporters.

The former MP said Jr NTR definitely has political ambitions.

“In the past, he played active role in the TDP politics. He has the ability to pull crowds with his attractive speeches. Above all, he has a face cut that resembles senior NTR,” he said.

Vundavalli said though the younger voters might not remember senior NTR, they would definitely get attracted towards Jr NTR.

“The older generation has a lot of admiration for senior NTR and I had a close acquaintance with Harikrishna. He was a very courteous person,” he said.

Stating that he was not aware of what had transpired between Amit Shah and Jr NTR, the former MP said if the actor entered active politics, it would bring about a major change in Andhra politics.

He refused to comment on the activities of Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan.

“He has never been in power. If he had, we could have judged what is good or what is bad about him,” he said.

Vundavalli was all praise for the Jagan Mohan Reddy government for filing a special leave petition in the Supreme Court in the Margadarshi deposits case, after several years.

“It is good development that Jagan has filed the SLP at a time when everybody thought the Supreme Court will strike down the case. As the son of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, he should have done it long ago, but nevertheless, it is better late than never. Definitely, there must be some strategy behind this SLP,” he said, adding that the case will come up before the bench on September 19.
