Volunteers should fetch victory to YSRC: Balineni

Senior YSR Congress party MLA from Ongole and former mines minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy on Thursday said if the YSRC come to power in the next assembly elections again, the credit would go only to the village and ward volunteers.

Speaking to media, Balineni said for the first time in the country, chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had constituted the village volunteer system, which was nowhere in the country, to bring the administration to the doorstep of the people.

“All the village and ward volunteers were appointed only on the recommendation of the YSRC leaders. If the party has to come back to power, the onus lies on these volunteers. They should take the responsibility of ensuring victory for me and other MLAs,” he said.

Balineni said he had been dropped from the cabinet only because he happens to be the relative of the chief minister.

“The chief minister told me this openly,” he said.

On Jagan’s call to the MLAs to try for winning all the 175 assembly seats in the next elections, Balineni said they would definitely try to fulfil the desire of the chief minister.

“He asked the MLAs to take up door-to-door campaign only because some of them were found to be underperforming as per the survey,” he said.

“Since he has clearly told us that those MLAs, whose popularity graph is falling, will not get the party tickets again, everybody has to work hard from now on. They should get in touch with all sections of people and party workers. If they work hard, getting 175 seats is not difficult,” he said.
