Viveka murder: TDP leader gets notices for loose talk

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader Varla Ramaiah, known for his loose tongue on any controversial issue, has got the notices from the police for his comments on the murder of former MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy, uncle of YSR Congress president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The Crime Investigation Department, which is presently investigating the case of Viveka’s murder through a special investigation team (SIT), served notices on Ramaiah, who alleged the hands of Jagan’s relatives in the murder.

There were reports in the social media that a close relative of Jagan had got Viveka murdered hiring “supari killers” (hired assassins). Based on these social media reports, Ramaiah made the wild allegations.

Director General of Police Gautam Sawang took serious note of these social media reports.

On Tuesday, he warned that stern action would be taken against those who were spreading the fake news through social media and also those who make open comments on the investigation into Viveka’s murder.

The DGP claimed that the investigation was going on in the right track and the case would be resolved at the earliest.

Soon after Sawang made the statement, the CID authorities issued a notice under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code, asking him to appear before the SIT authorities and show evidences for his statements.

The Andhra Pradesh Police Officers’ Association has already condemned Varla Ramaiah’s wild allegation that the police were diluting the case at the behest of the ruling YSRC.

They said the police had the entire history of Ramaiah with them and if he did not stop making allegations, they would expose him.
