Viveka murder case: Will Avinash avoid arrest?

Suspense is prevailing over the possible arrest of YSR Congress party MP from Kadappa, Y S Avinash Reddy, in the Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued summons to him to appear before the investigating officer in Hyderabad for questioning at 3 pm on Monday.

Avinash, along with a large contingent of party workers, left for Hyderabad while simultaneously moving the Telangana state high court seeking anticipatory bail to avoid being arrested by the CBI after the interrogation.

The MP filed a lunch motion petition before the bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, and the court admitted his petition, scheduling it for a hearing at 2.30 pm, half an hour before Avniash was to appear before the CBI for questioning.

The high court has asked the CBI to produce all records pertaining to the Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

The summons to Avinash follow the arrest of his father Y S Bhaskar Reddy in the same case at Pulivendula on Sunday.

The arrest of Bhaskar Reddy triggered an uproar in the party as he is the maternal uncle of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wife Bharati Reddy and also the paternal uncle of Jagan.

Bhaskar Reddy was produced before a CBI magistrate court on Sunday evening and remanded to judicial custody. The CBI has sought the magistrate’s permission to take Bhaskar Reddy into custody for ten days for questioning.

The CBI has sped up the investigation after the Supreme Court constituted a new special investigation team (SIT) last week and directed it to complete the investigation by April 30.
