Stage is set for the launch of the new political party by Y S Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, at a grand public meeting to be held at Khammam on Friday.
The interesting aspect of the meeting, according to party sources, is that the party would be formally launched by Sharmila’s mother and YSR’s widow Y S Vijayalakshmi, who would attend the rally as a chief guest. It is not exactly known whether she would be addressing the meeting.
Vijayalakshmi was also present at the launch of YSR Congress party in 2012 by her son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Maybe, Sharmila thought it would be sentimental for her to get the party launched by her mother so that it would become a big hit in the coming days.
The party sources said Sharmial would take out a massive procession of nearly 1,000 cars from Lotus Pond in Hyderabad to Khammam, where she would address the public meeting.
However, the district police authorities gave restricted permission to Sharmila to the rally. Her party leader Konda Raghava Reddy said they would strictly follow the Covid-19 norms without causing any inconvenience to anybody.
“Under any circumstances, we shall hold the rally in Khammam, despite the hurdles created by the KCR government. In fact, there are not many Covid-19 cases in Khammam,” Reddy said.
