Vijayamma back from US, to stand by son!

Y S Vijayalakshmi, wife of former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, who had gone to the United States of America during the hectic electioneering in the state, quietly returned to the state.

According to sources, Vijayamma landed in Hyderabad on Friday night. While she was expected to go to her daughter Y S Sharmila Reddy at her Lotus Pond residence, she straightaway left for Tadepalli to the residence of her son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the outgoing chief minister of the state.

Apparently, Vijayamma was very much disturbed with her son’s humiliating defeat in the just concluded elections.

“Maybe, she thought she has to stand by her son in his difficult times and provide solace to him. That’s why, she went straight to Tadepalli,” sources said.

During the thick of the campaign, Vijayamma left for the US, obviously to avoid an embarrassing situation as Jagan and Sharmila were trading charges against each other, which went to the extreme lengths.

However, from the US, she had released a video, calling upon the people of Kadapa parliamentary constituency to vote for Sharmila and not the YSRCP candidate Y S Avinash Reddy. This led to the talk that she was not supporting Jagan in the elections.

Obviously, Vijayamma thought her son would come to power again in Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, while her daughter would win the Kadapa elections. But Jagan lost power to the Telugu Desam Party with a massive margin, while Sharmila lost her deposit in Kadapa.

That is why she might have thought Jagan needed more moral support from her than Sharmila. So, she came down to Tadepalli.

“She is expected to spend some time in Tadepalli, before returning to Sharmila in Hyderabad later,” sources added.
