Vexed with Naidu, Jagan appoints private security

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been alleging that the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu has failed to provide him adequate security during his district tours, has finally decided to have his own private security.

In addition to the state-provided Z+ security, YSRCP chief has appointed 40 private security personnel for his protection. As many as 10 retired army personnel were already part of his private security detail.

Jagan’s new security setup will come into effect from his upcoming visit to Rajahmundry on Wednesday.

YSRCP sources clarified that the move is not due to any specific threat but rather in response to the overwhelming crowds of party workers who gather near Jagan during public appearances.

The private security is meant to prevent untoward incidents and maintain order during his tours.

YSRCP leaders criticized the TDP-led government for failing to ensure adequate law and order during Jagan’s visits, which led them to appoint private security.

Past incidents, such as YSRCP workers breaching helipad areas or a party worker dying after falling under Jagan’s car in Rentapalla, prompted this decision by the party leadership.
