Asha Kiran, daughter of late Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, appears to be preparing for a public-facing role.
Although she maintains that she has not taken any political decision, her recent moves indicate early groundwork for a potential entry into the state’s political arena.
Asha Kiran on Tuesday announced that a massive public meeting titled “Ranganadu” will be held in Visakhapatnam on December 26, marking Ranga’s death anniversary.
The event will be organised by the Radha-Ranga Royal Association, and a poster for the programme was formally unveiled.
She emphasised that the gathering would transcend caste, religion and political affiliations, and is intended as a tribute to her father and to mobilise Ranga’s admirers irrespective of their party loyalties.
Asha Kiran said the Radha-Ranga Mitra Mandali will be strengthened across the state using the slogan once popularised by Ranga: “Join hands, victory will not slip away.”
She reiterated that she has no current ties with any political party and that the organisation’s activities are purely charitable.
While she denied any imminent political announcement, she stated that if she ever makes a political decision, it will be at an appropriate time and in consultation with senior members of the Mitra Mandali.
Asha Kiran dismissed rumours of differences with her elder brother and former MLA Vangaveeti Radha Krishna, calling them baseless.
She confirmed that Radha Krishna has been invited to the Visakhapatnam event and urged people not to spread unnecessary gossip.
She added that the public will be able to see her work and service activities over the next three years, after which organisational elders would guide any future political decisions.
