Unnecessary fuss over Pawan comments: Jana Sena

Unnecessary fuss over Pawan comments: Jana Sena

The Jana Sena Party has issued a formal statement alleging that certain political groups intentionally misinterpreted party president and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan’s remarks made during his recent tour of the Konaseema region.

The party appealed to all stakeholders not to distort his comments at a time when cordial relations exist between the Telugu states.

According to Jana Sena leaders, Pawan Kalyan’s statements; made in a casual interaction with farmers in the Rajolu constituency; were taken out of context and circulated in a misleading manner.

The party maintained that the remarks were neither directed at Telangana nor intended to create tension between the two states.

During his Konaseema visit, Pawan Kalyan commented that the region’s coconut trees, once lush and green, now appear lifeless and “as though their heads have been cut off.”

In a lighter vein, he referred to how, during the state bifurcation years, some Telangana leaders used to admire the greenery of the Godavari districts.

He remarked jokingly that the intense greenery had perhaps drawn an “evil eye,” a comment that has since sparked political controversy. Opposition leaders alleged that his remarks were aimed at Telangana, leading to heated reactions.

The Jana Sena clarified that Pawan Kalyan’s observations were figurative and agricultural in nature, referring only to the declining health of coconut farms in Konaseema. The party emphasised that attempts to politicise the issue were unwarranted.

The party leaders are now pointing out that during the Telangnana movement, several Telangana leaders made unsavoury and humiliating comments against Andhra people, ridiculing their culture, food and traditions.

“We, too, felt insulted then. Why are they targeting Pawan Kalyan now for his casual comments?” they asked.
