Weak Point: Nasty Culture In Andhra Pradesh

Weak Point: Nasty Culture In Andhra Pradesh

Power often creates an illusion that it will last forever. Many leaders, once they gain control, begin to act with a sense of permanence. They feel the God has given them the power and right to trouble rivals. This often leads to a revenge mindset against political opponents.

In Andhra Pradesh, this pattern is visible across parties like YCP, TDP and Congress for years. While the players change, the approach remains largely the same.

Targeting rivals through indirect or questionable means has become common. Social media has turned into a key battleground. There have been instances where individuals faced arrest for content that may be offensive but not truly harmful.

One such case involved a morphed image of N Chandrababu Naidu. Srihari, who was associated with Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure as Chief PRO, was targeted for a morphed picture of Chandrababu.

It involved a morphed image depicting N Chandrababu Naidu with bloodstains on his shirt and a sword in his hand. Critics see this as selective action rather than fair enforcement, as there is no big serious issue in this picture.

Media also plays a significant role in shaping narratives. Dailies like Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy often portray leaders such as Jagan in a negative light. However, these dailies are immune to such arrests. This inconsistency raises questions about fairness.

There are other examples that add to the debate. A stand up comedian, Anudeep, faced trouble for making political jokes. On the other hand, sexual misconduct allegations against individuals like Arava Sreedhar linked to Janasena did not receive the same attention, and Pawan Kalyan remained silent.

Media personality ABN Radhakrishna has also faced criticism for controversial remarks on YCP leaders' wives, yet no significant action followed.

Voters are not unaware of these developments. People observe carefully and deliver their judgment during elections. The short term satisfaction of targeting rivals may eventually turn into political loss.

If experienced leaders choose to rise above this pattern, it could help create a healthier political environment.

Can Chandrababu, being a senior leader put and end to this, like how YS Rajasekhara Reddy kept an end to factionism in Rayalaseema! If he does, he will remain in positive light of history.
