TDP has been in high spirits ever since Sharmila merged her party with Congress and emerged as the PCC President of Andhra Pradesh Congress.
The TDP-aligned media has also taken action to promote Sharmila as a counter to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The concerned media expected that by extensively covering Sharmila, it would serve as a checkmate for Jagan Mohan Reddy.
However, very soon they realized that giving publicity to Sharmila is causing more harm than good for TDP.
The TDP group is now worried that Sharmila has no potential to split the votes of YCP but may pose a threat to TDP by creating a negative impression among neutral voters that TDP is involved in murky politics with Sharmila.
All in all, the decision of the TDP high command is now not to encourage Sharmila. The same message has been conveyed to the TDP-aligned media houses.
