Target 175, Jagan tells party leaders

Elections to the Andhra Pradesh state assembly are still two years away, but YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy doesn’t want his party leaders not to relax but begin the preparations for the elections from now itself.

Addressing the workshop of the party functionaries including ministers, regional coordinators, MLAs, district party presidents and others at the party office at Tadepalli, Jagan set a target of winning 175 out of 175 assembly seats in the next elections.

“When we could get 151 assembly seats in the last elections, it is not impossible win the remaining 24 assembly seats in the next elections. This is our target and we shall strive to achieve this target,” Jagan told the party leaders at the workshop.

He said nobody thought the YSRC would make a clean sweep in the MPTC and ZPTC elections and conquer Kuppam municipality and local body polls.

“In the same way, nothing is difficult to achieve, if we have the commitment and do hard work,” Jagan said,

Stating that the Gadapa Gadapakoo Prabhutvam programme is a continuous process, the chief minister said the programme would go on for the next eight months relentlessly.

He suggested that two days be allocated to each secretariat and the party leaders should spend 20 days a month in 10 village secretariats.

Jagan called upon the party workers to analyse how the Gadapa Gadapa Ku Prabhutvam programme was held so far and how to make improvement in it. The feedback on the month-long programme should be discussed at the workshop, he said.

Jagan said so far, the progress of the government was satisfactory and the party is able to confidently say that the government has done some good work.

“The only thing we need to do now is to consolidate the people’s support. Nearly 87 per cent of the families in the country have got the benefits from the government schemes,” he claimed.
