Srilakshmi gets clean chit in OMC case, to become CS?

At last, senior IAS officer Yerra Srilakshmi got a huge relief in the sensational Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case with the Telangana high court on Tuesday giving her clean chit and declared her not guilty.

A division bench of the high court quashed the case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case relating to granting of licences to former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy to undertake iron ore mining in Bellary reserve forest area in Anantapur.

The CBI filed the case against her on the charges that she had resorted to irregularities when she the principal secretary (mining, industries and commerce) during the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy regime between 2004 and 2009.

The CBI filed the chargesheet against her on March 30, 2012 and a supplementary charge sheet a year later.

The CBI led by former joint director V V Lakshminaryana, investigated her role in the alleged illegal mining activity. She had to spend in jail for over a year.

The high court felt that the CBI could not substantiate the allegations against her and quashed the case.

With Srilakshmi getting the clean chit now, it appears decks have now been cleared for appointing as the chief secretary of the Andhra Pradesh government by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, soon after the completion of extended tenure of Sameer Sharma in December.
