Shock to RRR, as President seeks action against him

In a significant development, the office of the President of India has sought immediate action on a complaint filed against Andhra Pradesh deputy speaker K Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju for allegedly participating in political debates and activities despite holding a constitutional position.

The complaint was filed by Jai Bheem Party state general secretary Parasa Suresh Kumar, who accused the deputy speaker of violating constitutional norms by actively participating in television debates and making political statements.

Following the complaint, the President’s Secretariat has written to state chief secretary K Vijayanand, recommending that the matter be examined and appropriate action taken.

The letter reportedly directs the state administration to act promptly on the petitioner’s report.

Reacting to the development, JBP president Jada Sravan Kumar said the party would also approach the courts seeking action against Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju.

“Once a person assumes the office of speaker or deputy speaker, he is expected to remain above party politics. But RRR’s participation in political debates is a clear violation of constitutional conventions,” Sravan Kumar said.

He pointed out that constitutional functionaries are required to maintain neutrality and not engage in political propaganda or commentary.

“This is against the spirit of the Constitution. Our complaint is aimed at upholding democratic and constitutional values,” he said.

The President’s Office, in its communication, reportedly made it clear that immediate action should be taken based on the petitioner’s report.

The chief secretary is also expected to send a detailed response back to the President’s Secretariat.
