Sharmila slams Jagan for toeing BJP line

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y. S. Sharmila once again found an opportunity to attack her brother, YSR Congress Party president and former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Reacting sharply to the YSRCP’s decision to support Bharatiya Janata Party candidate C P Radhakrishnan in the upcoming Vice-Presidential elections, Sharmila on Friday said the YSRCP had once again proved itself to be the “B-team of the BJP.”

“The YSRCP’s mask has fallen off, exposing its close alignment with the BJP. Jagan has been unmasked as the foster child of Modi. What once pretended to be an opposition party is now openly supporting the ruling BJP,” she said.

Sharmila alleged that Jagan’s decision confirmed that the YSRCP was functioning in the interests of the BJP.

“It is now very clear that the BJP is nothing but Babu (Chandrababu Naidu) – Jagan – Pawan (Pawan Kalyan),” she remarked.

She further said that while the TDP and Jana Sena have a declared alliance, the YSRCP is secretly running a backdoor alliance with the BJP.

“While pretending to oppose the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, it maintains friendly ties with the party in Delhi,” she said.

The Congress chief described supporting the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate as “shameful” and a reflection of the YSRCP’s fear of pending corruption cases.

She also recalled that in the past, the YSRCP had remained silent on the BJP’s Constitutional violations and its role in violent incidents, including Manipur and Godhra.

Sharmila slammed Jagan for making cheap remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has consistently spoken out against BJP corruption.

“By backing the BJP candidate over a Telugu legal expert fielded by the opposition, Jagan has betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh and must explain his stand to them,” she said.
