SC lists Naidu SLP for hearing on Oct 3

SC lists Naidu SLP for hearing on Oct 3

At last, some good news for Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

According to the reports, the special leave petition filed by Naidu, challenging the high court judgement against quashing of the case filed by the Crime Investigation Department accusing him of masterminding the skill development scam, has been listed for hearing by the Supreme Court on October 3.

A division bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Anirudh Bose and Justice Bela Trivedi will be hearing Naidu’s SLP at Court No. 6 on October 3.

Though it is unlikely that Naidu would get any immediate relief in the case, it is a sort of good news that a bench has been constituted to hear his petition.

Earlier, there were reports that the case might get postponed to October 6, as the petition was nowhere seen in the cause list of the Supreme Court on October 3, as there are several other important cases before the benches.

The Crime Investigation Department filed a caveat before the Supreme Court saying that it should hear the arguments of the CID first, before taking up Naidu’s petition. So, it would take its own time to present its arguments.

On September 23, Naidu moved the Supreme Court challenging the state high court order dismissing his petition to quash the case filed by the state Crime Investigation Department (CID) in the alleged multi-crore skill development corporation scam.

After frantic attempts made by his lawyer Siddharth Luthra, the case came up before a bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatti on Wednesday, but Justice Bhatti recused himself from the case, stating that it could be transferred to another bench.

Luthra approached Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud for an urgent hearing, but the latter deferred the case to October 3 for hearing.
