Former YSR Congress party general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijaya Sai Reddy finally broke his silence on the latest allegations made against him by party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and others that he was sold out to the TDP and colluded with the TDP leaders to malign the party in the liquor scam.
Taking to X, Sai Reddy alleged that the “coterie” in the YSRCP was running a targeted campaign against him, and was trying to irritate him with planting false stories on social media.
“Those instigating me believe my reaction will harm Jagan. The politically inexperienced coterie’s reckless actions might benefit those aiming to become the party’s No. 2, but they do not help Jagan in any way,” he said.
He said he was forced to come out and speak out, since the coterie has once again decided to make him the scapegoat in scams with which he had no connection.
“They have been insulting me for the past four years. In 2011, I faced 21 cases. Even in 2025, had Jagan directly asked me, instead of trying to insult me through the coterie, I would have accepted responsibility even if I was not involved,” he said.
Sai Reddy said it was the coterie that stabbed him in the back and Jagan believed them and sidelined him, forgetting that I had served his family loyally for three generations.
He further questioned the narrative that loyalty is equated with blind acceptance of wrongdoing.
“If I bear the blame for crimes committed by the coterie, am I a good person? And if I don't, am I a traitor or someone sold out to the TDP?”
On the allegation that he had met Telugu Desam Party leader T D Janardhan Rao at his villa, he said he had gone there to meet Ghattamaneni Adiseshagiri Rao for a personal visit.
“I have had a close relationship with the late Krishna garu’s family for over two decades. They all attended my daughter’s wedding,” he clarified.
He said he had no idea that T D Janardhan would also be visiting at the same time.
“There were no discussions between us,” he said.
Sai Reddy asserted that he had already made it clear he would not join the TDP in this lifetime.
“If I wanted to meet anyone, I would do so openly — like meeting Nara Lokesh or N Chandrababu Naidu. Why would I talk to someone else?” he asked.
Referring to the ongoing liquor scam controversy, Sai Reddy said it was ironic that he was being accused of discussing the case with TDP leaders, even as the YSRCP maintains there is no such scam.
“If there is no scam, what would I even discuss? During the SIT inquiry, I only spoke about A1. I never mentioned anyone else,” he clarified.
