Roja, Ambati make it to Jagan cabinet, 11 retained

After a lot of brainstorming and thorough exercise over the caste and regional equations, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday announced the list of his new cabinet.

While he retained 11 ministers from the dissolved cabinet, he inducted 15 new ministers, prominent among them being firebrand MLA from Nagari R K Roja and loyalist MLA Ambati Ram Babu.

The ministers who were retained are: Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Botsa Satyanarayana, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, Pinipe Vishwarup, Ch Srinvasa Venugopala Krishna, Gummanur Jayaram, A Suresh, Seediri Appala Raju, K Narayana Swamy, Md Amzad Basha and Taneti Vanitha.

The new cabinet that is going to be sworn in Monday along with the caste equation of the minsters is:

Dharmana Prasada Rao- BC; Sidiri Appalaraju – BC; Botsa Satyanarayana – BC; P. Rajanna dora – ST; Gudivada Amarnath – OC; Buddi Muthyala Naidu – BC; Dadishetti Raja – OC; Pinipe Vishwaroop – SC; Cheluboina Venugopala Krishna – BC; Taneti Vanitha – SC; Karumuri Nageswararao – BC; Kittu Satyanarayana – OC; Jogi Ramesh – BC; Ambati Rambabu – OC; Meraga Nagarjuna – SC; Vidadala Rajini – BC; Kakani Govardhan Reddy – OC; Amjad Basha – Muslim; Buggana Rajendranath Reddy – OC; Gummanooru Jayaram – BC; Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy – OC; K Narayana Swamy – SC; Roja K. Selvamani – OC; Usha Sricharan – BC.

According to a CMO statement, the newly formed cabinet has a mixture of senior and experienced leaders as well as fresh and young faces, for a balanced governance.

While the seniors will bring in their expertise and experience on to the table, the young leaders will bring in fresh and innovative ideas and initiatives to the table, thus aiding in people-oriented governance. 

The previous ministers, however, will be given responsibilities in the party so that they can make use of their experience to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming assembly and general elections in 2024

Keeping the same motto of fair social representation, the CM has increased their representation in the cabinet to 68%. In the previous cabinet, there were 5 SCs, 1 ST, 7 OBCs, 1 minority, and 11 Other castes MLAs as ministers. This time, the representation has been increased by 17 – 11 BCs, 5 SCs, 1 ST and 8 OCs. 

Out of the 10 ministers retained from the previous cabinet, 3 from SC, 5 from BC and 2 from OC. 

The women representation is also something the Chief Minister has always focused on and hence their representation has been increased to 4, compared to previous cabinet of 3.
