The remand report submitted by the Andhra Pradesh police to the local court in Vijayawada during the judicial remand of senior journalist Pamidikalva Madhusudhan alias Dhatri Madhu, in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Group-1 examination papers evaluation scam, nailed senior IPS officer and former state intelligence chief P S R Anjaneyulu.
As part of the probe, the police arrested Pamidikalva Madhusudhan, director of CAMSINE and the second accused in the case, and produced him in court on Wednesday.
He was remanded to judicial custody until May 21. The police detailed the involvement of Anjaneyulu and Madhusudhan in their remand report.
According to the remand report, in 2020, APPSC conducted Group-1 mains exams for 169 posts, with 6,807 candidates appearing.
Contrary to what was stated in the notification, the Commission conducted a digital evaluation and declared the results on April 28, 2021.
Several candidates challenged the process in the high court, which ruled that a manual evaluation must be carried out.
Anjaneyulu, who served as the Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2021 during the YSR Congress Party government, was accused of misleading the state high court and manipulating the futures of thousands of candidates
He reportedly summoned APPSC Additional Secretary D. Vishala, Joint Secretary K.V. Prasad, Deputy Secretary I. Narasimhamaurthy, Assistant Secretary B. Venkata Subbayya, and Officer Venkatalakshmi to his chamber.
He informed them that the answer scripts would be evaluated manually by a private agency "CAMSINE Media."
To mislead the court into believing that manual evaluation had been conducted, a facade was staged at the Hailand evaluation centre.
In reality, marks from the digital evaluation were merely re-entered under the pretence of manual evaluation. The Camsine Media was hired to carry out this deceptive process.
Though the APPSC officials told Anjaneyulu that as per regulations, such evaluations should be conducted either in the APPSC office or in government colleges, under the supervision of APPSC officials and by panels consisting of professors and assistant professors from government universities.
Anjaneyulu allegedly dismissed their concerns and declared he would take full responsibility for the actions taken and got it done through Camsine Media, the remand report said.
