Relieve me from TDP, says Alapati Raja

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad, who has been sulking for not giving him the party ticket from any constituency in Guntur district, is getting ready to quit the party.

Addressing a meeting of his followers at Tenali on Saturday, Rajendra Prasad, popularly known as Raja, found fault with the TDP leadership for allotting the Tenali seat to Jana Sena Party.

“I don’t know what to do. Kindly relieve me from the TDP and show me a way out,” Raja asked the party cadre.

He is expected to take a decision on quitting the party in a day or two.

Another TDP leader, Devineni Smitha, daughter of senior TDP leader Chalasani Venkateshwar Rao alias Pandu, who was murdered in 2010, has expressed dissatisfaction with Naidu for neglecting her family.

Smitha was expecting the party ticket from Penamuluru, which was represented by her father in the past.

She said she and her family had struggled a lot to build up the party in the constituency and had made huge arrangments for the padayatra of Lokesh.

“Yet, Naidu succumbed to the blackmailing tactics of Bode Prasad and gave him the ticket. The TDP chief and his son Lokesh has betrayed me and my family,” she alleged and vowed to ensure the defeat of Bode Prasad in the coming elections.

Facing a similar revolt in Visakhapatnam district, the TDP president is understood to have agreed to give the Bheemili seat to former minister and senior leader Ganta Srinivasa Rao, after he flatly refused to go to Cheepurupalli to contest against Botsa.

Ganta’s name is likely to figure in the fourth list of assembly constituencies, sources said.
