Ravi Prakash To Head A Defunct Channel?

Ravi Prakash To Head A Defunct Channel?

After a brief lull, former chief executive officer of popular Telugu television channel TV9, V Ravi Prakash, is back in the rumours doing rounds in a section of media.

According to these latest rumours, Ravi Prakash is likely to head a virtually defunct television channel Raj News, which has already changed quite a few hands. He is also likely to take over both Telugu and Kannada version of this channel.

Going by these speculative news, Raj News channel was recently acquired by an industrialist close to Bharatiya Janata Party with investments from a couple of prominent state BJP leaders.

It is not exactly known whether Ravi Prakash would have any stakes in this channel or he would only be a chief executive officer (CEO) of the channel. But he will be an overall in-charge of the channel, say these reports.

One doesn’t know how much truth is there in these speculations or rumours, but sources said Ravi Prakash had been planning to launch is own news channel and making serious preparations for the same.

In the meantime, he made an attempt to get back into TV9 by acquiring major shares. He moved the National Company Law Tribunal to that effect, but the present management is learnt to have strongly rejected his proposal.

At the same time, Ravi Prakash is still fighting legally to gain control over TV9 trademark logo and hoping to win the battle. Simultaneously, he is continuing with his efforts to launch his own channel.

It is yet to be ascertained whether the present rumours of Ravi Prakash to revive the defunct Raj News is part of his plans to launch a new channel. Let us wait and see.
