Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who came to power in June 2024, has been periodically conducting performance review of his cabinet colleagues.
Once in three or four months, he obtains feedback from the field and also from the intelligence department on the performance of the ministers and alerting the non-performing ministers from time to time.
On Thursday, too, when he conducted the cabinet meeting, Naidu released the rankings of his cabinet ministers.
The performance evaluation reportedly considered file clearances, field visits, interaction with party cadres and the public, and implementation of government schemes.
According to the latest rankings, state irrigation minister Nimmala Rama Naidu secured the top position with regard to discharging his duties effectively. Second rank was bagged by the chief minister’s son and state IT minister Nara Lokesh.
While health minister Y Satya Kumar came in the third position, other senior ministers Kollu Ravindra, K Atchennaidu, and Payyavula Keshav have been placed at the bottom.
There is no information about the rankings given to deputy chief minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.
Sources said the rankings also took into account each minister’s influence in their constituencies, their efficiency in implementing welfare schemes, and their ability to counter opposition strategies.
According to sources, Chandrababu Naidu believes the rankings will motivate ministers to work with greater focus and accountability, rewarding top performers and encouraging others to improve their efforts.
