Prashant Kishor floats party, finally!

Prashant Kishor floats party, finally!

Popular political strategist and founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) Prashant Kishor is now all set to become a full-fledged politician.

On Monday, he announced that he would convert his Jana Suraaj Abhiyan, a campaign for good governance, into a regional party in Bihar.

In all probability, he would contest the assembly elections in Bihar to be held in early 2025.

Kishor, known for his role in shaping election campaigns and strategies for various political parties, declared that he wants to help his home state Bihar come out of the quagmire of economic stagnation.

He launched Jan Suraaj in May 2022, with an objective of moulding the public opinion against the 32-year “misrule” of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar. He went on a padayatra across the state. But he did not get the expected response from the people.

Though he claimed that he had given up the job of a political strategist, Kishor continued to give advices to various parties.

He tried his hand with the BRS in Telangana in 2023 and this year, he indirectly helped the TDP with his strategic inputs, which helped the party to come to power in Andhra Pradesh.

Now, Kishor announced that he would formally launch the political party from October 2 and would take to politics full time.

He said Bihar has a lot of space for a new party as it has "maximum anti-incumbency" following the nearly 35-year rule of ideologically similar formations headed by either Lalu Prasad Yadav or Nitish Kumar.
