Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was visibly elated with the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to relaunch the Amaravati capital city works. His euphoria and jubilation were evident in his speech and demeanor.
In contrast, Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan appeared subdued and somewhat disinterested on the dais, despite receiving the Prime Minister and exchanging pleasantries with him.
For reasons unclear, Pawan Kalyan didn’t seem to be at his usual best. His speech lacked the energy and sharpness typically associated with him.
He came prepared with a few notes scribbled on paper and appeared to be reading from them without much force.
It was apparent that Pawan was not in good health and was visibly uncomfortable while speaking, frequently pausing to cough during his address.
Sensing his discomfort, Prime Minister Modi, while returning to his seat, personally called Pawan Kalyan over and handed him what appeared to be a chocolate. Pawan accepted it with a smile, visibly pleased by the thoughtful gesture.
The moment also brought a smile to Chandrababu Naidu’s face, who was standing nearby. Pawan was later seen laughing and showing the item to his colleague Nadendla Manohar on stage.
It was later clarified that the “chocolate” was actually a Vicks cough drop—Modi’s subtle way of acknowledging Pawan’s cough and offering relief.
During his speech, Pawan also praised Naidu, calling him a visionary leader who had transformed barren land into a thriving metropolis.
He stated that just as Naidu developed Cyberabad (Hyderabad’s IT hub), he would now build Amaravati into a world-class capital with his vast experience and foresight.
