Pawan fails to fulfil promise, tribals protest

Tribal villagers from Marrebu and Dayarthi in Ananthagiri mandal of Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Andhra Pradesh, staged a unique protest on Friday to express their disappointment over Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan’s unfulfilled promise.

In December last year, Pawan Kalyan laid the foundation for roads connecting Gummanti – Rachakeelam, Rachakeelam – Reddipadu, Ballagaruvu – Vajangi, and Peechumamidi – Gummanti. However, even after seven months, construction has yet to begin.

The roads remain in poor condition, forcing tribal residents to walk long distances to access ration supplies and essential services.

Frustrated by the state government's inaction, the tribals staged a symbolic protest in an unusual way — they rode horses along the rough roads for about three kilometres to highlight their plight.

Tribal leaders voiced their concerns, stating that around 2,500 people across 11 PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) villages in the Pinakota, Pedakota, and Jeenabadu panchayats still have no access to a proper road. Residents must trek several kilometres to reach the nearest town for medical treatment or basic necessities.

“Pawan Kalyan garu, are you listening?” they asked.
