For the last two days, a political war of words has been going on between the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party over credit for the newly completed Bhogapuram Airport in Vizianagaram district.
Both parties claim responsibility for initiating, constructing, and completing the airport.
The TDP maintains that it had launched the project earlier and that although some work occurred during the YSRCP regime, completion was achieved only after the coalition returned to power.
The YSRCP counters this, claiming that the project was largely completed during Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure and that it lost power just before its commissioning.
Adding fuel to the debate, former YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy tweeted after the first test flight landed at Bhogapuram, seeking to claim credit for the achievement.
In his tweet, Vijay Sai Reddy said he was delighted to see the first test flight land and recalled that he had consistently raised airport-related issues in Parliament and during meetings with Union ministers.
He described the project as fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Visakhapatnam, implicitly staking his claim in the credit battle.
Now, it remains to be seen how many others would join the issue to take credit for the airport completion.
