No engagement with PK, says Sajjala

Within hours of popular political strategist Prashant Kishor turning down the offer of the Congress high command to join the party on certain conditions, YSR Congress party made it clear that it has nothing do with him.

Senior YSRC leader and advisor to Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on public affairs Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy asserted that Prashant Kishor had not been extending any kind of services to the YSRC.

“Even in future, Prashant Kishor might not have any opportunity to work with the YSRC,” he said.

Referring to the reports that PK had given an advice to the Congress high command to have an alliance with the YSRC in Andhra Pradesh in the next elections, Sajjala ruled out any such possibility.

“Maybe, many parties are interesting in having an alliance with us in the next elections. But our leader Jagan has been fighting single-handedly and he has never evinced interest in any alliances. We don’t want any alliances and we will continue to go alone,” he said.

Sajjala’s comments in the wake of reports that Jagan had, in his interaction with senior party leaders and ministers a few months ago, indicated that Prashant Kishor would continue to work for the party.

The reports said Prashant had already been doing groundwork for the party for the next elections, collecting feedback on the performance of the MLAs and the people’s perception on his welfare schemes.

There were indications that Prashant and his team would be working for the YSRC in full-fledged manner from May. But now that Sajjala openly declared that the party won’t engage Prashant, it appears Jagan has changed his mind.
