As the Telugu Desam Party-led alliance government in Andhra Pradesh headed by N Chandrababu Naidu completed one year in office on June 12, a survey conducted by an agency RISE headed by poll analyst Praveen Pullatla has revealed that 52% of the people who took part in the survey said Naidu’s governance in the first year was good.
The survey said 26% of the people rated the government’s performance as poor, and 21.2% said it was average.
However, when asked which government's performance was better 51% of the respondents said the Naidu’s government is better, while 38% voted for the previous YSRCP government.
On the delivery of welfare schemes, 52% said Jagan Mohan Reddy provided more welfare, while only 48% chose Chandrababu Naidu.
On the development front, however, 59% said more development happened under Chandrababu Naidu and the remaining 41% credited Jagan’s tenure.
But on the political front, the Naidu government got poor marks. Only 28% felt that their alliance MLA was performing well, while 64% said their MLA was underperforming.
Nearly 78% of the people said the focus on Amaravati was more, while 22% said the capital should be developed along with other cities.
As regards the performance of ministers, only Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, Lokesh, Narayana, Ramanaidu and Payyavula Keshav were given the full marks, while Kondapalli Srinivas, Gummidi Sandhya Rani, Kandula Durgesh, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vangalapudi Anitha, Nadendla Manohar, Atchannaidu, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy were voted as average performers.
The poor performers are: Kollu Ravindra, Satyakumar, Parthasarathi, Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Gottipati Ravi, BC Janardhan Reddy, Savitha, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, Vasamsetty Subhash.
With regard to the issues that have caused dissatisfaction among the people are: Second-phase land acquisition for Amaravati, vendetta politics and clashes with YSRCP, problems faced by aqua farmers and regular farmers, changes in ration distribution system, corruption by MLAs, increased electricity charges and failure to implement promises to power workers, delay in filling nominated posts, decreased purchasing power in villages and sand mafia and liquor-related grievances.
The positive factor for the Naidu government are: Road repairs and construction of new roads, investment inflows, 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme, Amaravati development, free gas cylinders, naming of education schemes after national leaders, procurement of paddy and tobacco and panchayat development.
As many as 32 MLAs are on the safe side, while 90 MLAs are in the orange zone and 53 MLAs are in the red zone. This sounds a warning bell for the TDP-led alliance, says the survey.
